Languages

The Languages curriculum for offers students the opportunity to develop proficiency in an additional language, with a focus on French or Italian. This curriculum is designed to enhance communication skills, cultural understanding, and global awareness. Students engage with their chosen language through listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities, gaining insights into the cultural contexts in which these languages are used.

In addition to language acquisition, the curriculum emphasises critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and an appreciation for linguistic diversity. Students learn to read and write various types of texts, engage in conversations, and gain an understanding of cultural customs and traditions.. As they progress to the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), students have the opportunity to continue their studies in Italian and French, further refining their language skills and deepening their cultural knowledge, preparing them for global citizenship and diverse career pathways.

Languages is a compulsory subject in year 7 and 8 (year 8 is one semester only).
